The Bursary Fund is generously supported by NEEMF (The North East Early Music Forum), who founded HISS in 2010 and provide the main source of funding for our students. In recent years the Fund has exceptionally been able to support the full cost of student places, including both fees and accommodation. All of this comes from your generous donations of money or sheet music, music books, CDs, etc (sold at HISS and NEEMF events throughout the year). We wish to thank everyone who has donated or helped in any way. Please contact us if you have any unwanted items you wish to donate.

HISS offers full time students in particular opportunities and experiences not available on a school, university or conservatoire course, or even other summer schools. At the same time, everyone at HISS benefits from their presence: they bring us youth, fresh ideas, and professional skills. In the current climate students rarely have the means to afford a place at a course like HISS. The purpose of the Bursary Fund is to enable them to take advantage of the unique specialised, highly professional, contextual training HISS provides.

We are extremely grateful for all benefactions. If you would like to make a donation, however large or small, to assist young musicians to attend HISS, we would love to hear from you. Any money donated for this purpose will go entirely towards helping someone to join the course who would genuinely be unable to attend without such help. Donations may be acknowledged or anonymous, as you prefer.
